LEPARAGLIDING 1.0
LABORATORI D'ENVOL PARAGLIDER DESIGN SOFTWARE
After
several years of development (preliminary version in 2005), Laboratori
d'envol presents "LEparagliding 1.0" paraglider design program, that follow the
laboratory concepts and techniques, and allows improved design for the new
gliders. With
the help of LEparagliding has been possible to design the gnuLAB2 paraglider. Construction of the first prototype is scheduled for spring 2010.
LEparagliding
is a program operating different from others on the market. No
graphical user interface, but its mode of operation does not need.
The program works by reading some data files leparagliding.txt that contains all the geometric description of the glider, and files of profiles gnulab2.txt
airplan.txt or others. The
program reads the data, calculates and draws the glider in a few
seconds. The results are obtained in two files: leparagliding.dxf
containing drawings to be interpreted and plotted with a CAD program, and file lep-out.txt
containing the summary of the geometric and aerodynamic parameters calculated and the length of all lines.
NOTES 25-4-2010: leparagliding-1.1 available
This new version has two major improvements:
1) Generated DXF files can be opened without a problem with Autocad 2006 or
equivalent! (Make sure to type "regen" to display the entire drawing).
2) Now generates an additional output file called lep-3d.dxf ... that contains
all the glider 3D autocad format ... it is not necessary to generate the
sewing, but it allows better visualization of the model and make checks and
measurements in Autocad. It has not been difficult to generate the 3D model,
since the program calculates the 3D coordinates of all major points of the
glider. It has only been necessary to add a 3D drawing subroutine ...
There are still things to improve, but the program is fully functional,
although it is much more rugged use than others ... allows greater control
over the outcome. Even in Autocad you can change what you want.
